Are you interested in making money from sports betting and wondering whether no risk matched betting in the USA is the best strategy?
Find out what matched betting is, whether it’s possible in the USA in 2021, and what the best alternatives for making money from sports betting are in this article!
What is No Risk Matched Betting USA?
No risk matched betting is a way to make money from sports betting. Specifically, it involves taking advantage of bonuses and promotions offered by bookmakers.
Using these bonuses, we can back all possible outcomes of a specific match and profit regardless of which one occurs.
Bookmakers such as DraftKings and FanDuel offer signup bonuses to attract new customers. They currently offer to match your initial deposit with a free bet up to $1,000.
You can use this free bet to back an outcome with that bookmaker, then go to another bookmaker and match the opposing outcome at a specific stake to ensure that you profit regardless of the outcome.
As betting exchanges such as Betfair do not operate in the USA, you do not place your opposing bet at the exchange (as you would in the UK or Australia), but rather at a second bookmaker.
Here’s an example using a fictional tennis match between Dominic Thiem and Roger Federer. Fanduel and DraftKings are both offering head-to-head (outright win) markets for the match.
If we take the highest odds for each player from the respective bookmakers, we can use our sign up bonus to create a matched betting opportunity.
If we bet specific stakes on these two outcomes, it is possible to profit regardless of which one occurs.
* The condition of the bonus bet is that our stake (of $200) is not returned, only actual winnings.
So we have wagered a total of $275, but as $200 was part of the Fanduel signup bonus, we really only spent $75. This means that we have locked in a guaranteed profit of at least $89 ($164 - $75), regardless of who wins the match.
It only takes a few minutes to place these bets, but you have the potential to profit quite handsomely from them.
Is Matched Betting Possible in the USA in 2021?
Yes and no, unfortunately. The first hurdle to being able to do matched betting is whether sports betting is legal in your state.
In 2018, PASDA, the law which prohibited online wagering was struck down, which paved the way for individual states to decide on whether to legalise betting.
Here is a list of states that have approved online sports betting.
However, even if you do live in a state that has approved online sports betting, I still think that matched betting is quite difficult in the USA. There are two reasons for this:
Firstly, to successfully do matched betting you need access to a large number of bookmakers that offer decent promotions. Unfortunately, as online sports betting is still in its infancy in the USA, there are not that many bookmakers around at the moment.
Furthermore, many bookmakers are only licensed to operate in a single state, meaning that most Americans can only access a small fraction of the available bookmakers.
Secondly, there are no decent matched betting services in the USA as there are in the UK and Australia/NZ. Without a matched betting service, it is difficult to find the promotions and the optimal bets to use your promotions on.
Is There Another Way To Make Money From Sports Betting?
Thankfully, yes. Whilst I do recommend doing the signup bonuses for all bookmakers you can access in the manner described above, this will be short lived and you will quickly exhaust your opportunities here.
Once this happens, I recommend that you move onto doing value betting. Value betting involves identifying when the bookmakers make a mistake with their odds.
Essentially, you compare the odds that the US bookmakers are offering with the odds offered by sharp bookmakers such as Pinnacle or betting exchanges such as Betfair. These sharp bookmakers and exchanges are considered ‘efficient markets’ with quite accurate odds.
When the US bookmaker odds deviate from these ‘accurate odds’, they have made a mistake and you can capitalise on this by placing a bet on the odds that are too generous (ie. too high).
You will win some bets and lose others, but as you are always betting on overpriced odds, you will profit well in the long run. You can learn more in my beginners guide to value betting.

No Risk Matched Betting USA - Conclusion
Matched betting is an excellent way to make money from sports betting. Unfortunately, it is quite difficult to do matched betting in the USA currently, as there are too few bookmakers and no decent matched betting service to use.
However, it is possible to make money from sports betting in the USA with value betting. Value betting involves exploiting opportunities that arise when the bookmakers offer inaccurate odds.
Trademate Sports have recently released a product especially for US sports bettors. It allows you to do value betting on 4 sports and with 9 US bookmakers.
While profits are more variable with value betting than with matched betting, it is much easier and there are many more value betting opportunities than matched betting opportunities in the USA.

Great post !!! Thanks for sharing it.
Oh I hit submit, I wasn’t finished. Anyway with regulations met to curb people who were doing table games online and losing lots of money Congress made it more difficult for offshore books to operate here, example Pinnacle no longer takes US consumers when they had operated in the US for years.
That might put off people not used to dealing with these hurdles.
I currently have an account at Bovada. Other books available to me that offer 50% to 125% bonuses. They have softer lines and sometimes less juice on games.
These books usually tail off of Pinnacle and Las Vegas. I can also bet in Tijuana, Mexico and Las Vegas legally.
My problem isn’t winning, it’s taking small amounts and trying to make it bigger using parlays. It takes too long to build up bankrolls betting $2-$5 a game. When at the end of a 102 college basketball Saturday making bets on every single game (102), I end up around 47% wining percentage, but since I bet on some dogs for + money I end up with a profit, so I know match betting and value betting works.
I am going to push back a little Louis. There are several Offshore books people in the US can use. That might put off some people in the US but I have used these books for the last twenty plus years without a problem. I used to be able to have paper checks sent to me via FedEx but
The calculations for the match between Thiem and Federer are incorrect. You are not refunded the stake if it is a free bet.
Good find! I have amended the calculations. Thanks for letting me know 🙂
